Who Is Houston FC?

Houston FC is a player-centric, community based, and holistic development driven soccer club located in the heart of Houston, Texas. Our goal is to help every player reach their potential on and off the field, gaining valuable life skills and new perspectives through the game of soccer in hopes of best preparing them to not only overcome adversity in their educational ambitions, athletic journeys and careers but also in their personal lives. At Houston FC, we focus on the holistic growth of the character so that the club can best support each individual in their education and athletic pursuits.

What is Our Vision?

Houston FC plays competitive and developmental games not only locally in the Houston area, training and competing actively for 10 months but also playing regionally/nationally through our diverse portfolio of game opportunities, tournaments, and showcases. We believe in playing up – both with players and entire teams and aim to help to develop the whole player, on and off the field. We strive to help guide, challenge, and support our young men on their academic and athletic journeys in hopes they take the lessons picked up through the game, founded on Respect, Discipline, and Commitment. Furthermore we hope and strive to guide each HFC player to grow into leaders of their desired fields, become stalwarts of their communities, and develop into drivers of positive change that inspires others.

Values, Culture, & Philosophy

At Houston FC, we believe above all else, our athletes are people before they are players. It is from this central thought that our soccer culture and philosophy is rooted and based in these values:

  • Faith, Family, Academics, & Football

We strive to create a culture based on these values and put into action by players through holding the highest standard of behavior, and prioritizing commitment to each other in attendance and presence. We aim to help players find their purpose through having a positive impact on others, inspiring inspiration and joy through expression, and leadership through example and voice. As a club, commitment to one’s teammates and the community is of the utmost importance.

Soccer culture is what you do everyday in the game, and more importantly, how that ties to what players do off the field. Our soccer culture is built on these four pillars.

  • Go Forward
    • A commitment to taking risks, having ambition and fighting to see ideas and visions into reality and to bring joy through the expression of creativity
  • Possession
    • An understanding that soccer and the ball itself s joy to be shared, and with that like other joys in life, we have a responsibility to show respect, honor and take care of the things that are important to us
  • Transition
    • An awareness to see, listen and take action in moments of change, to help others and communicate proactively to make the most of the ever changing moments in the game and in life
  • Pressing
    • A desire entrenched in resilience to go and change our situation when needed, to respond to adversity with a proactive and positive mindset and to lead by example and by voice

Play Up Philosophy

  • HFC is adamant in our belief  that players must be challenged and supported in order to reach their potential. As a club we exemplify this in our play up philosophy. all teams will compete in older age group competition. in order to give all players more opportunity to be challenged, more chances to make mistakes, and more chances to learn and grow.
  • Our players gain confidence and improve their speed of play both mentally and physically. Our expectations are that players are always playing at the next level, whether that is youth competitive, collegiate or professional. We choose to develop the whole player, challenging them and supporting them in the four areas of development, psychosocially, technically, tactically, and physically.
  • This sentiment is also ever present in the academy itself. younger players will regularly get training opportunities in older teams within the club and chances to earn meaningful games with older teams
